The Wikipedia defines
The
Ides of March as, best known because
Julius Caesar was assassinated on the Ides
(or March 15th) of March in 44 BC.
We are releasing the latest update for the
SpamZapper during the Ides of March to
announce the death of Image based Spam.
Previously we recommended that all Gif (and
possibly jpg based) Image files be not
permitted in order to reduce the amount of
Spam that the Spammers were sending. These
images changed frequently, and attempts to
store them into Enterprise wide databases did
not help to identify them, because they
changed frequently.
The latest version of SpamZapper (introduced
on March 13th), is now able to scan the
attached images to detect Stock,
Prescription, and Mortgage based Spam
messages. Currently you need not make any
changes to your configuration, unless you
wish to now permit the image based
attachments again.
To enable your Image based attachments, you
need to update your SpamZapper configuration.
First of all, you need to login with your
account
information to the Server Administrator site
(this
is usually done as the Domain or Network
administrator for your organization). The Login
page is located at:
Click the
ServAdmin link on the left
- http://www.Spam-zapper.com
enter
your
id and password then click configure.
When you have the Server Administrator page
up, you
can select the
spamzapper button on
the left panel. You will then be given a
drop-down
box to select the domain you want to configure,
select the Domain (not an email address),
then click
the
login button.
This is the SpamZapper status page (complete
with a
graphical report about your domain), for the
domain
name you selected. Now you can click the
Configuration button, and enter the basic
configuration page.
Look for the section called
Filter
Attachment File Types:. Using the right
hand Scroll bar, you can select the
Attachment types that you want to exclude
from receiving. If you now what to permit
Gif file type (there are MANY reasons why you
should not), you can press the Ctrl button
and left click the gif keyword so that it is
no longer selected. You can repeat this
procedure for all of the other types you
wish to permit or exclude.
A brief explanation of the Various types of
files, and other configuration information is
also available by clicking the
Help
button on the top of the page.
